Dr Lars Tharp

A ceramics historian, film-maker and author, specialising in East-West cultural and material exchanges. His noted BBC TV documentaries have included two acclaimed films following the making and the heroic journey of Chinese porcelain to Europe. (Treasures of Chinese Porcelain and China in Six Easy Pieces – the latter featuring pieces from the Percival David Collection at the British Museum). He also appears regularly on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. Lectures world-wide, frequently enlisting the works of William Hogarth to explore 18th-century interiors, material and moral. He is Hogarth Curator of London’s Foundling Museum, on the court of The Worshipful Company of Weavers (London’s oldest guild), and a Fellow of the venerable Society of Antiquaries of London.
