posted on 27/05/16

MRT lecturer and Professor of Lieder at the Royal Academy of Music, Richard Stokes, has recently released ‘The Penguin Book of English Song: Seven Centuries of Poetry from Chaucer to Auden’. The book covers the work of 100 English poets which inspired many different composers to write vocal music.

The launch will be celebrated with a sold out event at Wigmore Hall on Saturday 28th May. Richard will discuss many of the poets featured in the book before a concert of English song from Sarah Connolly, Robin Tritschler and Joseph Middleton.

Richard is the Artistic Director of our Danube Festival of Song and will give daily talks on the programme of music including Hungarian, Nordic, French and English song.
