Rachel Podger wins Gramophone Artist of the Year 2018

posted on 19/10/18

Heralded as “the unsurpassed British glory of the baroque violin” (The Times), Rachel Podger has been named as the prestigious Gramophone Artist of the Year 2018.

The latest accolade in a soaring career, Rachel was also the first woman to be awarded the Royal Academy of Music/Kohn Foundation Bach Prize in October 2015 and will be sharing her fresh and creative approach during the Martin Randall Festival, The Johann Sebastian Bach Journey, 13–19 May 2019. Performing on the festival as both a soloist and as director of ensemble Brecon Baroque, these private concerts in the places where Johann Sebastian Bach lived and worked must rank among the highest delights available to music lovers.

As well as establishing herself as the founder and artistic director of the Brecon Baroque Festival, Rachel also holds chairs for Baroque violin at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and is currently recording the Cello Suites on violin.
