Austria
Our cultural tours of Austria embrace both the country’s rich musical traditions and its former status as the cradle of the Habsburg empire.
The capital features prominently on several itineraries – its art treasures and Baroque palaces as well as outstanding musical and operatic productions – but we also offer a festival of Haydn’s work in the small town where it was first heard, the annual Schubertiade in the mountain villages of the Vorarlberg, and a glorious Mozart immersion in Salzburg of works written and first performed there.
As always, private visits figure prominently and the performing artists – including Ian Bostridge, Anne Sofie von Otter and Igor Levit – and tour lecturers, such as Rupert Christiansen, are top-class. A medley of tours to strike a chord with all lovers of music and culture.
