France
Our visits to Versailles are timed to coincide with the musical fountains spectacle – a detail typical of the planning integral to MRT’s small-group cultural tours of France. Eurostar, TGVs and short flights plug us into a vast and complex circuitboard of history, art, architecture and music, from the standing stones of Brittany to the gardens of the Riviera, from the prehistoric cave paintings of the Dordogne to Cézanne’s studio in Aix.
Our itineraries feature some of medieval Europe’s finest buildings and most significant power centres, such as the Palais des Papes in Avignon, the Gothic cathedrals of the north and the great hilltop pilgrimage site of Vézelay, and do full justice to an extraordinary legacy of Romanesque churches, from Normandy to Provence. There is walking and wine in Alsace, ballet and arias in Paris and the pity of war along the Western Front. And, providing the backdrop, there is the glorious, unchanging paysage of rural France. From parterres to bomb craters, from amphitheatres to crypts, our experts lead the way.

By focusing on a very specific area of Spain, and drawing on the experience and personal connections of Gijs Van Hensbergen with food producers and chefs, the itinerary allowed for both an intimate and comprehensive introduction to the cuisine of this region. "
