Dr Jacqueline Riding
Dr Jacqueline Riding specialises in British art and history of the 18th and early 19th centuries. She was the historical advisor for Mike Leigh’s award-winning feature film Mr. Turner (2014), a consultant for the restoration of the artist’s villa in Twickenham (opened 2017, she is now a trustee) and co-curator of Between the Sheets: Turner’s Nudes (2022). She has taught courses on art and history for the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education, is an editor at The Art Newspaper, and author of Hogarth: Life in Progress (the 2021 Sunday Times Art Book of the Year) and Peterloo (2018). She is currently writing a dual biography of Sir Joshua Reynolds and Thomas Gainsborough for Yale University Press.
