Dr Rose Kerr becomes honorary citizen of China's porcelain capital

posted on 11/11/15

The city of Jingdezhen has been producing pottery for well over a thousand years. MRT lecturer Dr Rose Kerr, who has dedicated much of her career to ancient ceramics, has visited the city eight times in the past three decades. In recognition of her work there, she became an honorary citizen of Jingdezhen on 9th November 2015.

Rose has published many books on the topic, including Chinese Ceramics: Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty. She also worked as keeper of the Far Eastern Department at the Victoria & Albert Museum, organising exhibitions and seminars on Jingdezhen ceramics.

Rose leads our Essential China tour in October, which features selection of the most celebrated sights in the country, including six UNESCO world heritage sites and the three main centres of Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an.
